{"id":3825,"date":"2026-02-03T22:07:46","date_gmt":"2026-02-03T22:07:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/seeallacademy.com\/?page_id=3825"},"modified":"2026-02-03T22:09:12","modified_gmt":"2026-02-03T22:09:12","slug":"3825-2","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/seeallacademy.com\/?page_id=3825","title":{"rendered":"The SEEALL Academy Cell Phone and Electronic Device Policy"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The SEEALL Academy Cell Phone and Electronic Device Policy<\/p>\n<p>The SEEALL Academy, in collaboration with the School Leadership Team (SLT) has<br \/>\nestablished its policies governing student use of electronic devices (cell phones,<br \/>\ncomputing devices, portable music and entertainment systems).<br \/>\nPOLICY<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 As stated in Chancellor\u2019s Regulation A-413, students are permitted to be in<br \/>\npossession of cell phones, laptops, tablets, iPads, and other similar computing<br \/>\ndevices, and portable music and entertainment systems; however, it is The<br \/>\nSEEALL Academy&#8217;s policy that these devices are not permitted to be turned on<br \/>\nor used on school property unless authorized by a SEEALL Academy staff<br \/>\nmember. This restriction is always applicable on or off the school premises<br \/>\nduring the school day including recess in the yard, field trips, after school<br \/>\nprograms, school fire drills or any emergency preparedness exercise.<br \/>\nIN CASE OF EMERGENCY<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Please do not call students cell phones during school hours. The SEEALL<br \/>\nAcademy follows a bell-to-bell schedule during the instructional school day; 8:10<br \/>\nAM-2:30 PM.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 If a student must contact a Parent\/Guardian and permission from staff is<br \/>\ngranted, telephones are available in the main office. Conversely, if a<br \/>\nParent\/Guardian must contact a student to reach the school in case of<br \/>\nemergency or exigent circumstances, they may call the main office at 718-851-<br \/>\n8070 or contact our Parent Coordinator, Nicole Ferguson at extension 1102.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 If there is an emergency at the school, parents will be notified via GAMA<br \/>\nmessaging system. Parents can access the automated communication system<br \/>\nthrough their NYSCA accounts.<\/p>\n<p>COLLECTION\/STORAGE<br \/>\n\u2022 Upon arrival, all 6-8 students will keep their cell phones and smart watches<br \/>\nlocked in their Yondr pouch from when they enter the building through the end<br \/>\nof the school day at dismissal. Students will lock their devices away as they<br \/>\nenter the building and unlock their Yondr pouch at their dismissal door upon<br \/>\nleaving.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Any K-5 student that reports to school with a cell phone will lock it up in a Yondr<br \/>\npouch upon entry to school and unlock heir Yondr pouch at their dismissal door.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 All Yondr pouches will remain locked and students will store their closed<br \/>\npouches in their school bag stored in the coat closet for the day.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Students will remove their Yondr pouched from the closet at dismissal and open<br \/>\nthem at their dismissal door.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Students with approved early dismissal will be able to take their Yondr pouch<br \/>\nout of their bookbag and open their Yondr pouch in the main office upon<br \/>\nmeeting their parent.EXCEPTIONS<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Students are allowed to use their device if they have an individualized<br \/>\neducation program (IEP) or 504 Plan that includes use of an internet\u0002enabled<br \/>\ndevice and do not have a DOE-issued device for such purpose.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Parents\/guardians must contact Nurse Bowes at (718) 851-8070 if a student<br \/>\nrequires an exception for reasons such as: medical monitoring\/treatments (for<br \/>\nexample to monitor blood sugar or other similar circumstances), or where<br \/>\notherwise required by law.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 The principal\/designee may authorize use for an educational purpose.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Exceptions will be processed within three weeks.<\/p>\n<p>DISCIPLINE CODE<br \/>\n\u2022 Students will bring their Yondr pouch to and from school and are<br \/>\nresponsible for them.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 There will be a fee of $15 for lost pouches and attempting to break or destroy<br \/>\nthe pouches will result in disciplinary action as per the discipline code.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Yondr pouches are school property, therefore, the discipline code will be<br \/>\nenforced if any student is caught with an open pouch during the school day,<br \/>\nwith another student&#8217;s Yondr pouch, or if a student is found to have tampered<br \/>\nor attempted to damage their Yondr pouch.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Computing devices may not be turned on or used during the administration of<br \/>\nany school quiz, test or examination, except as authorized by the school, or<br \/>\npursuant to an Individualized Education Plan or a Section 504 plan.
